NameByMeaning was built out of frustration with traditional baby name books and websites. Expecting parents often know what they want a name to represent—strength, beauty, peace, or nature—but finding a name that fits that description can feel like searching for a needle in a haystack.

Our mission is to build the world's first true reverse-search engine for names. By combining comprehensive open-source datasets (including SSA data, Wikidata, and curated name lists) with semantic search capabilities, we make it effortless to discover names by their profound meanings.

Currently, our database houses over 125,000 names spanning 30+ cultural origins and 15 language families.
